One large gallery for the whole of my visit at the Hampton Court Flower Show 2017 – so much to see, so much to admire, so much to appreciate and learn. All in one huge gallery of images from the moment I stepped into the Show to my exit several hours later. Show Gardens and Floral Marquees, Roses and Carol Klein in there too … Too much to highlight individually – for those with the stamina, enjoy the show!
Downderry Nursery in Kent are magicians when it comes to Lavender – with a collection of over 400 varieties and a breeding program bringing new cultivars to market. Their Gold medal exhibit at Chelsea was a huge wheel of colour and fragrance – and in my haste to capture as many individual varieties in detail, I completely missed capturing the beautiful whole. I shan’t be remiss at Hampton Court Flower Show next month! Obviously there are many more Lavenders out […]

Some rather lovely Show Gardens, an immense Floral Marquee and more than a few, very beautiful roses with their very own Festival. A warm and balmy evening, plenty of people but no crowding at all – this you can see in these photos. All this and fireworks…. amazing! The show has its full day on Tuesday and runs through until Sunday.
Rather a cheat, this, a gallery of the Rose Marquee exhibits, but time is short and I will lay claim to the ‘if a picture paints a thousand words’ argument and leave you with twenty four thousand of them… I would make a mention of the Historic Roses Group, who were once again exhibiting (and gained a Bronze Medal this year). I joined last year – a five year membership – and Ann Cannings, their Membership secretary remembered me and […]

Sharing the marquee with the roses at this year’s Hampton Court Flower Show, with a Vintage theme, were these pieces of floral artistry. Each display a quite astonishing piece of craft, beautifully realised and with such imagination. Rocking around the clock Drainpipes, jukebox, brilliant colours and design. I think ‘his’ shoes are known as ‘brothel creepers…’ Winning a Silver Flora Award for Writtle College. A depiction of Iconic 1950’s filmstar Marilyn Monroe (despite the shocking sugar-spun, off- centre wig…) this display earned […]
A Gold Medal winning exhibition from David Austin at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, which finished yesterday. By far the most exuberant staging from any of the rose nurseries, dominating the Rose Marquee. If only there was a ‘scent’ button on your keyboard.. A comprehensive selection of their English Roses, displayed enclosed within a white picket fence and divided into four beds set around an arbour with table set for a traditional English afternoon tea, complete with vase of […]
RHS Hampton Court Flower Show A photo-montage for the few hours that I spent strolling through Show earlier today. So many more photographs have been posted onto my Facebook page – and they are publicly available images – http://www.facebook.com/theteddingtongardener – that it is worth a look for the Enthusiast. And I joined the Historic Roses Group (and about time!), so all in all, A Good Day. That said, a near neighbour has obviously just been given a Very Big Drum […]
