April is the cruellest month ….

A poetic diversion, since the first lines had been running around my head and, down the rabbit hole, the rest had to follow ... The Waste Land T S Eliot I. The Burial of the Dead                 April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring…

Spring colour-bombs a riverside Nursery (can you guess which one?)

Flowers inside and out, flowers everywhere -  and a few grateful bees to feast on the early Spring bounty. A kaleidoscope of colour, bright, bold, brash and beautiful but we forgive this extravagant generosity - nothing clashes in the garden at this time of year, as the new season unfolds in our gardens. It's welcome antidote…

A few things that caught my eye today – an early Springtime collage

Just a little colour to mark the sunshiny day we've had hereabouts - with these heralds of Spring in all their Technicolor finery. Not an exhaustive gallery, I just caught a few pics at the top and tail of the day, but you get the spirit of the season. I'll see if I can do…

Kicking off the season at the RHS Early Spring Show 2017- snowdrops and iris and more springtime lovelies … Mostly snowdrops and iris (and an inflatable, stripy tank)

Avon Bulbs and Harveys both had amazing exhibits at the RHS Early Spring show the horticultural halls off Vincent Square in central London. Jacques Armand brought out the early reticulate and other diminutuve, early Irises. Dibleys, Streptocarpus and Pheasant Acre Plants, Hippeastrum. Plenty more of course, but here's a taster. https://www.avonbulbs.co.uk/ https://www.harveysgardenplants.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=69 http://jacquesamandintl.com/homepage/ https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-london-shows/rhs-early-spring-plant-fair Jacques…

Your garden in August – a few thoughts …

August has already given us some glorious sunshine and plenty of beautifully warm days - and while there may be a little rain (OK, a lot of rain coming) - this is a combination that our plants will absolutely love. True, the evenings are that little bit shorter now and this signals a change in…

The sun has got his hat on and – simmering in the heat – here are a just a few things that caught my eye today #floralmonday

Roses aside, back to Spring where the garden is colouring up with Camellias, Iris, Daphne and Anemone … and more of course

A gallery only - well I say 'only' - there is much to delight and much that is both beautiful and welcome in the garden. More and ever more colour to lift the spirits with so much more to come - and so I caution - take a pause, enjoy the season, these moments -…

A little look at the 2016 London RHS Early Spring Show

Walking through Pimlico and the outskirts of Westminster, after crossing Vauxhall Bridge (see the Duck tours amphibious vehicle), heading towards Vincent Square and the horticultural halls hosting the first of the RHS London Shows this year.... The RHS Early Spring Show Beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine (yesterday), the first day of the show. Magnolias…

A Winter Gallery for your delight and delectation …

More from my Twitter account and once again, just the pictures to look at. It's late and there's another busy day tomorrow .....
