Poppycock

P1030115

And which season do we think it is today, pray tell?

If we were to take the evidence of this bright beauty, well it would be early summer… and this clump of poppies has been in flower for a couple of weeks, in a front garden a few door away from me at home in Teddington. A mild winter, no snow, few if any frosts, high pressure and warm fronts – sunshine – and this is what you get.

Those folks preparing exhibits for the Chelsea Flower Show will be having a difficult time holding things back this year…

What other plants are out in bloom that really shouldn’t?
