Well I had my macro lens with me today, hence the kind of images you have here – and plenty of roses to draw the eye (and nose – to take a gorgeous sniff). Not much time but I had to photograph some flowers today after a day photographing a wedding yesterday. Lovely, lively day and a great couple, but had to get some roses onto the SD card – and it wasn’t raining (the first time in a long time I haven’t had that ‘just dewed’ look on the petals).
David Austin roses, almost all of them, and you can get more details from their website (www.davidaustinroses.com) – have another look at Lady of the Lake – one of their repeat-flowering ramblers (and it is beautiful) – and Wollerton Old Hall (which has a fragrance of aniseed) – and the perfect scrolls of Tess of the D’Urbevilles ….
In the interests of balance, a few herbaceous perennials to bring in other tones and colours, especially the blues. The astrantias, nigella and vebascums were part of wedding flowers and the lilies are among several pots in the front garden at home.

That’s all folks…. (save for this gorgeous Rolls Royce in the driveway this morning)
And the whole lot in a more compact gallery ..
