Windsor Great Park – two monarchs, two horses, one castle, a Derbyshire millstone, a Royal Lodge and some remarkable trees

Heading out from The Savill Garden, map in hand, to explore the park and woodland, trails, bridle ways and to gaze across the vistas and views across to Windsor Castle. Elizabeth II on her Jubilee Horse and George III on his Copper Horse, and all under bright blue skies. I think next time we’ll take the bikes in the back of the van and explore further.

Some extraordinary trees, swirling Sweet Chestnut and great Oaks – garlands of mistletoe – and the graphic specimens around the Jubilee Statue, looking like ink-and-water art experiments against the deep blue.

More days like this please.
