Poppy

IMG_7403We shouldn’t be seeing poppies at this time of year – though with mild winters and Indian Summers, some of the nature’s timing can be off. These I suspect came into the Nursery from Covent Garden Flower Market. I’m smitten regardless of seasonal-correctness. The white poppy had just been teased out of its pod and the intricately folded petals were being given the hydraulic treatment and pumped up and out. The effect was mesmerising.

The orange poppy has had a little more photoshopping, to even out the dark background, but the colour is pretty true despite these manipulations. A welcome return to a regular theme in these pages – orange!

Poppies will definitely be on the menu this season I can tell – seed catalogues at the ready!
