The first flush of new roses at Petersham Nurseries, due in a few weeks, featuring superb Old Roses, both repeat~ and summer-flowering; ancient and modern climbing roses and ramblers; floriferous ground cover; modern shrub roses and more…. a promise to make this collection as comprehensive and exciting as any you might find in the country.
The photos were taken at Mottisfont Abbey earlier in the year and this place of Rose Pilgrimage has been pivotal in choosing many of the new roses for the Petersham Collection. An invitation to the Heritage Rose Foundation Conference in the summer cemented my profound respect for these superlative rose gardens – established by Graham Stuart Thomas and which have been under the care of Head Gardener David Stone for several decades. The conference featured these distinguished luminaries and rosarians.

I’m delighting in all things David Austin now, for a complimentary selection of their best and most fragrant shrubs, climbers and repeat-flowering ramblers as well as more classic climbing roses, Old Roses and…. I am in Rose Heaven!
In the meantime I’m preparing for a Rose Workshop later this month…
