A medium-sized deciduous shrub, bearing these striking mallow flowers from late summer into autumn. Position in full sun, in a sheltered site and it will grow up to 1.5m tall and through. Holding a prized Award of Garden Merit from the RHS –

The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit (AGM) helps gardeners make informed choices about plants. This award indicates that the plant is recommended by the RHS.

Criteria

The AGM is intended to be of practical value to the home gardener. It is awarded therefore only to a plant that meets the following criteria:

  • Excellent for ordinary use in appropriate conditions

  • Available

  • Of good constitution

  • Essentially stable in form and colour

  • Reasonably resistant to pests and diseases
