Spring delights in the The Savill Garden

A pageant of colour - rhododendrons and camellias, hellebores and pulmonarias, cherry blossom, crocus, narcissus, daphne and more - but which group of plants is missing from this gallery. It's a biggie?! Links

Rhododendron nobleanum album – an early flowering beauty

Rhododendron nobleanum album - at least two specimens on Battleston Hill at RHS Wisley were in flower when I last visited a couple of weeks ago - this old variety will flower anytime between January and March and perhaps even later, after the last frosts. Mid-January, it was the first of the rhododendrons I saw…

Chokushi-Mon, a Japanese Garden at Kew

The Japanese Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Beautiful here in mid-winter, with sculpted box, evergreen waves of Liriope muscari, flowering Iris unguicularis, clipped Pachysandra terminalis, Cotoneaster and Callicarpa in berry, a few choice Chaenomeles flowers, beautifully spreading Winter Cherry - Prunus subhirtella Autumnalis, sunshine and raked gravel.

Parcevall Hall Gardens, Yorkshire Dales

Just pictures, for now, of this fascinating Arts and Crafts Garden in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Such a magical place and combining the best of all worlds - a cultivated garden amid so much wild beauty.

A meandering walk through the pathways of Battleston Hill at RHS Wisley and some real treats along the way.…

Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy – and Bluebell

The Isabella Plantation is an ornamental woodland garden within Richmond Park and it is ablaze with colour at the moment with rhododendrons, azaleas and bluebells at their very best.Pink and orange, red and white, yellow and blue, yellow and orange, orange and blue, purple and red - hot clashes and cool combinations. Probably the best…
