Jude the Obscure, with hints of Gertrude Jekyll and Graham Thomas
Gertrude Jekyll – a beautifully scented shrub rose and Fragrant English Climber
Two glorious David Austin roses, in bloom now and probably (given the long summer, after a late start) in flower for many weeks to come. Few other plants can give so many months of pleasure (for eyes and nose) and their reputation as rather difficult divas really needs to be dispelled. Hungry things they may be, but then flowering is probably exhausting and repeating the show several times throughout the season is a major outlay of the plants energy – but many can do this with apparent ease.
What is almost certainly true is there is almost always room for one more rose in the garden…. these two would be a good start to any collection!

Great combination.
